Libra New Moon

solar eclipse

Hi friends,

How are you feeling?

What’s flowing through you and your life right now?

One of the things I truly love about Eclipse season is the way I feel more aware of my own patterns (both beneficial and not so beneficial), with loads more acceptance and way less judgement. (The Pisces full Moon with lunar Eclipse we had a few weeks ago was lovely for helping us release those self-judgements too!).

For example, this Eclipse season, I’ve been noticing the ways I seek presence and then at other times, noticing how I totally avoid or distract myself from presence. I’m also noticing the way I desire deeper connections, but then sometimes run away from connecting more deeply. And I’m noticing these patterns without shame or judgement, instead feeling curious and accepting of my own complexity.

By removing shame and judgement from our awareness, we actually free up energy within us to be used in more constructive and supportive ways. Ways that help us take actions on things that truly matter to us.

And taking actions on things that truly matter to us is something we are likely resonating deeply with during this Libra New Moon with (partial) solar eclipse on October 2nd, 2024.

That’s because this lunation guides us to act for our own alignment, encouraging us to cultivate clearer communications and more connected relationships.

Libra’s balance

We are fully in Libra season now. The cardinal Air sign, Libra is known as the peacekeeper and peacemaker of the Zodiac due to their focus on equality, equity, fairness, justice and balance. And my goodness, does the human world need more peace right now.

Ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty, values, finances and harmony, Libra seeks balance in all areas of life, particularly in relationships, justice and staying in values.

At its highest vibration, Libra energy encourages cooperation, diplomacy, clear communication and fairness. It helps us to see the perspectives of others and fosters a deep desire to create win-win situations.

Yet the shadow side of Libra, can have us vacillating between everyone’s thoughts and needs, creating a sense of indecisiveness, conflict avoidance and propensity toward people pleasing.

Represented by the scales, Libra encourages us to find balance. One way to find this balance is to use both sides of Libra energy during this new Moon. By embracing Libra’s light side—harmony, communication, and values—we can create more balance in our lives and relationships. And by recognizing Libra’s shadows, we can move beyond indecision and people-pleasing, stepping into a space of authentic action and alignment.

As the cardinal Air sign, Libra has an active, inquisitive and creative mind, yet can often use the support of the other elements to balance the energy in the mind with the rest of the body.

We can often find ourselves a bit more mentally activated during Libra season, with loads of ideas streaming in and thoughts swirling around. Yet we can use the other elements to help us focus that mental energy in ways that support our greater balance and alignment. For example we can call upon the element of Earth to ground our ideas into reality, the element of Fire to motivate us to take actions and the element of Water to intuit and feel into which ideas are in our greatest alignment to begin with.

And with this Libra new Moon (with solar eclipse energy) we actually have a beautiful supportive Grand Trine with all the Water signs! A grand trine is when a triangle shape (specifically at 120 degrees) is created between 3 planets in signs of the same element.

In this case, Mars (the planet of action and assertiveness) is in Cancer, while Venus (the planet of beauty, relationships and values) is in Scorpio, and Saturn (planet of discipline, structure and boundaries) is in Pisces, and all these planets are creating a triangular shape between them.

This Grand Trine energy is said to encourage harmony and natural ease. With this Grand Trine hitting all the Water signs we may notice a greater sense of ease and harmony with our emotions and our intuition, because the element of water corresponds with our emotional bodies and our intuition.

This increased intuitive nudge is fantastic for eclipse season, as it keeps us more open to connect with and receive spiritual guidance. So keep finding presence my friends, especially around and on this new Moon in Libra on October 2nd, 2024!

The amplified connection with our intuition can also help us feel into the actions we want to take from a place of true authentic desire and alignment, vs. the actions we take due to responsibility or habit.

While I often suggest less action during eclipse season, this particular Libra new Moon eclipse is encouraging us too make some moves and take some aligned actions.

aligned actions

So what are aligned actions as opposed to our other actions?

Aligned actions are the actions we take for the pleasure and expansion of our Soul.

Aligned actions are the things that we do that progressively move us toward our most authentic expression.

They are also the actions we take that help us remember our unique presence within a larger web of life, and the infinite nature of our Souls.

Aligned actions also remind us that we are always co-creating with a loving and conscious Universe.

Sometimes aligned actions are challenging, like when we know we need to leave something or someone behind in order to meet our own potential. Other times they may be playful, joyful and oh so much fun, in order to remind us that life is full of wonder, joy and love too.

As Libra energy reminds us, we often the need the balance of both.

So with this Libra new Moon invite yourself to lean into your new manifestations, yet without the need to force or control it, because let’s not forget, we are still in the middle of eclipse season.

Our aligned actions begin by allowing ourselves to listen to our own intuitive guidance. Instead of hustling and rushing in with lots of actions, just to act, this new Moon encourages us to first connect with present selves in order to feel into what we truly feel called to create or accomplish.

Use the intuitive and supportive energies of the Libra new Moon with eclipse to make a list of all the potential actions you could take that would help you get from where you are to where you want to be. And instead of overwhelming yourself, thinking you HAVE TO do all these things, give yourself time and space to listen and notice and feel. Stay open to what you feel intuitively guided to do and then do it!

The partial solar eclipse also encourages us to ride the waves of momentum flowing around us for our own fulfillment.

inspired action with the solar eclipse

The partial solar eclipse, occurring with the Libra new Moon, is only covering a fraction of the Sun and will only be visible in certain areas, mainly around remote parts of the Pacific Ocean and southern Argentina and Peru . Yet regardless of where the eclipse is taking place, all eclipses carry significant energetic power for bringing sudden changes, realignments and revelations.

While lunar eclipses are often about letting go emotionally, since they’re paired with full Moons, solar eclipses are more about new beginnings and taking (non-resistant) actions in our lives, because they are paired with the new Moon. Solar eclipses also tend to have a larger collective impacts especially around those in global leadership roles.

Astronomically, the solar eclipse on October 2nd will create a subtle yet potent interplay of light and shadow. This symbolizes the balance of opposites—a hallmark of Libra’s energy. As the Sun’s light is temporarily obscured, we are reminded of the necessity of pausing and reassessing our paths before moving forward. While Eclipses obscure our view, they also often reveal what is hidden, forcing us to confront truths that may have been lurking in the shadows of our lives.

Astrologically, solar eclipses coincide with new beginnings, as they occur during new moons. This particular eclipse in Libra points to new starts, especially in relationships and partnerships. While the eclipse may create temporary confusion or challenge our perceptions, it ultimately pushes us toward greater alignment with our higher purpose. Expect surprises, but trust that they are guiding us toward growth and transformation. Eclipses often remove what no longer serves us, creating space for something better to emerge.

Here are some practical ways to work with this Libra new Moon with (partial) solar eclipse Energy:

1. Clarify Your Vision for Relationships This is a potent time to reflect on the quality of your relationships. Libra is the sign of partnership, so this eclipse may highlight where your connections are out of balance. Are you giving too much without receiving? Are your relationships aligned with your true values? Use this New Moon to set intentions for more balanced, reciprocal connections.

2. Take Action on Your Dreams The Libra New Moon with a partial solar eclipse is the perfect time to take inspired action toward your goals. If there has been a dream simmering in the background, now is the time to bring it into focus. While Libra encourages us to be thoughtful and considerate, this eclipse energy also supports aligned action. Align your desires with your actions and trust that the universe will support your efforts.

3. Create Beauty and Harmony in Your Environment Libra’s love for beauty extends to our physical surroundings. If your home, workspace, or daily environment feels cluttered or chaotic, this is a wonderful time to create more harmony. Consider redecorating, organizing, or introducing elements of beauty that inspire and uplift you. When our surroundings reflect our inner peace, it becomes easier to stay balanced and focused on our goals.

4. Resolve Conflicts with Compassion Libra’s shadow can sometimes shy away from conflict, but this New Moon urges us to address issues head-on—with kindness and fairness. If there are tensions in your relationships, now is the time to find a resolution. Remember, conflict doesn’t have to be destructive; it can lead to deeper understanding and growth. Approach difficult conversations with compassion and an open heart.

5. Align Mind, Body, and Spirit True alignment comes from within, and this New Moon invites us to check in with ourselves. Are your mind, body, and spirit working together harmoniously? Practices like meditation, yoga, or journaling can help bring these elements into balance. When we are in alignment with ourselves, we can take more effective action in the outer world.

May this Libra new Moon eclipse inspire us to act in ways that highlight our alignment with our Souls.

This new Moon solar eclipse happens with an exciting and supportive Water grand trine between Saturn in Pisces, Venus in Scorpio, and Mars in Cancer. This grand trine gives the opportunity to take action from your intuition, lean into the authenticity of our relationships and value systems, while being supported by Saturn to stay disciplined.

Water trines bring in our emotions, but the Saturn aspect offers us the boundaries to feel our emotions without getting overwhelmed by them.

In addition, this new Moon happens right on top of Mercury in Libra, bringing a welcomed sense of mental clarity and diplomatic conversations. The full Moon lunar eclipse was about feeling into our emotions with space but this new Moon solar eclipse can offer the clarity needed to make sense of it all and start to move forward.

There’s lot of energy for harmonious and healing conversations with others. Perhaps those deeper conversations is where you might find the answers.
