Hi friends,
How is Summer treating you so far?
Are you enjoying the longer days and warmer nights? Savoring the sounds, smells, sights and feels of the season of the Sun?
Are you taking more time to connect and engage with others? Or are you feeling more called inward?
We’re deep in Cancer season now, and it’s very likely that during this watery season our sensitivities are heightened, meaning we may be feeling everything amplified at the moment. Like the urge to nurture our loved ones along with the need to nurture ourselves.
The New Moon in Cancer on July 5th, 2024 encourages us to bring more nurturing and unconditional love into all of our relationships, and most importantly our relationship with ourselves.
The Cancer New Moon also guides us to center ourselves, our needs, our desires, our connection, within our relationships in order to best nurture unconditional self-love.

working with the Moon Energy Summary
cancer’s nurturing
As the Cardinal Water sign, Cancer is known to be sensitive, emotive, caring, intuitive and nurturing. Represented by the Crab, Cancer is also known for, at times, displaying a hard exterior to hide their vulnerable centers.
One of Cancer’s primary goals is rooted in safety. Cancer loves to create a space that feels safe and inclusive, yet can also too often prioritize the safety of other’s over their own.
Cancer can get so wrapped up in ensuring everyone around them feels safe, they can sometimes forget to ask “Do I feel safe in this situation/relationship/interaction etc.? Do I feel supported and included and nurtured as well?”
And this Cancer New Moon is guiding us to ask that very question, especially within our relationships.
During this New Moon, we are prompted to reflect on our relationship with ourselves.
Are we treating ourselves with the same kindness and compassion that we extend to others?
Are we providing ourselves with the emotional security we seek from external sources?
This New Moon is a time to cultivate self-love by acknowledging our worth and embracing our vulnerabilities without judgment.
RELATIONSHIP TENSION
As we delve into this journey of self-love, the astrological influence of Venus in Cancer squaring Chiron in Aries presents a unique, possibly even tense, challenge. Venus, the planet of love and relationships, in the nurturing sign of Cancer, emphasizes emotional intimacy and the desire for deep, meaningful connections. However, Chiron, the wounded healer, in fiery Aries, represents our core wounds and the areas where we seek healing, perhaps feeling a bit inflamed.
This square aspect between Venus and Chiron creates an interesting tension that can bring patterns of emotional pain to the surface, especially within our relationships. This transit compels us to confront our insecurities and past wounds, pushing us out of our comfort zones. While this tension may initially feel uncomfortable, it holds the potential for profound healing.
The interplay between Venus in Cancer and Chiron in Aries can manifest in our relationships as moments of vulnerability and emotional rawness. We may find ourselves revisiting past hurts or encountering situations that trigger our deepest fears and insecurities. However, this cosmic alignment encourages us to face these challenges with courage and an open heart.
In all our relationships, this transit urges us to communicate our needs and boundaries clearly. It’s a reminder that true connection requires honesty and vulnerability. By sharing our wounds and allowing our loved ones to see our true selves, we pave the way for deeper emotional connections and mutual healing. And we also filter out the ones unwilling or unable to see us in our truths.
Center Ourselves
I know, I know it may sound awful to hear someone say “Center yourself” when society keeps telling us how “self-centered” and selfish that is. Yet this Cancer New Moon does encourage each and every one of us to do just that, to center ourselves within our own stories and to nurture unconditional love for ourselves.
When I connected intuitively with the energies of this lunation, I was taken to the theme of relationships. I received activating sensations in my heart and solar plexus and heard the words “you are the anchor”.
The understanding I received shared that it’s time for us to see ourselves as the anchor, the grounding presence, within all our relationships. To stop the people pleasing, and the resentments, and instead learn how to center ourselves - our needs, our wants, our feelings - in relationships, in healthy, supportive ways.
Because the truth is, no one else is going to make us the main characters in our own stories, only we can do that.
Recently my dear friend Shannon Keating, shared a post about relationships that fit’s the theme of this Cancer New Moon beautifully. Shannon shared that in relationships, it’s important that we learn to ask ourselves “how does this person truly make me feel?”
A beautiful way to center ourselves in healthy ways within our relationships is to ask that question - “how does this person, this relationship, truly make me feel?” This self-inquiry provides us clarity into how we’re feeling along with how we’d like to feel, which can then guide our actions towards those more desired feelings. This question also helps us determine which relationships are truly worthy of our valuable energy and time, and which are not.
Another way to center ourselves in healthy, nurturing ways is to cultivate unconditional self love. Which means our needs and our desires, no matter how far away some of them may seem, are also totally loved and loveable.
So on this Cancer New Moon, it’s a great idea to take some time to really sit with ourselves, to sit with our needs and our desires and to love ourselves fully for having and expressing these needs, for wanting and sharing these desires.
Can we love ourselves deeper when we’re feeling extra needy?
Can we taste the deliciousness of our desires, even when they’re far away?
Can we prioritize the relationships that nurture us?
If not, this New Moon in Cancer wants to help us cultivate more nurturing and unconditionally loving relationships, especially with ourselves.
Unconditional self love is THE foundation for healthy relationships, the Cancer New Moon teaches us. When we learn to love and accept ourselves fully, we are better equipped to love others without the need for validation or approval.
May this Cancer New Moon nurture within you an enhanced sense of your own centering presence, along with more unconditional self-love.
with infinite love and appreciation,
Rachael

Astrology of the
Cancer New Moon
We have two exact transits happening with this new moon. The first is Mars sextile to Saturn. This brings a harmonious energy towards the way we assert ourselves, our desires and our sense of responsibility + discipline. This transit could give the motivation needed to take more serious action towards our long-term goals.
The second exact transit is Chiron square to Venus. This is a connection of tension between our deepest wounds/healing and our relationships, finances, beauty and value systems. We may be more sensitive when it comes to these things as well as our self worth. A square brings tension, but it also brings the energy needed to make needed change. Both chiron and venus are in cardinal signs, further encouraging initiatives for change. Notice where you are still wounded. Just notice without judgement and the next steps could flow to you through your emotions. It’s a beautiful time to take responsibility for your needs.
